Went to Morocco: The Majorelle Gardens

After several days exploring the old city and the souks, we walked over to the Jardin Majorelle. Begun in 1923 and restored by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Berge in the 1980s, it was a very strong contrast to the rest of Marrakech.

Apparently stop signs work in Arabic, too.

We walked through the new town from our hotel. The guidebook and various blogs had said that the new part of the city was interesting and worth a visit, although we didn't find it particularly inspiring. The gardens were gorgeous, though.

The interplay of textures from the plants and the colours of the buildings were striking - I had quite a good time putting my camera into the more manual modes!
